Graduation Requirements for Master’s Program

In master’s program, students must be enrolled for minimum 2 years to maximum 6 years. No enrollment after 6 years will be allowed.

Students must earn 24 or more credits for master’s program. Among the 24 credits, 12 or more credits should be earned from major courses in the Department of Anthropology other than Course 206.803: Reading and Research. However, exceptions can be made through the consultation with the Director of Graduate Program.

Students must score 3.0 (B0) or above both in their overall GPA and GPA for major courses.

Students must take Course 206.804: History of Anthropological Theory and score B- or above before the thesis submission qualification exam. Retake of the course is only allowed once if the student scored below B-.

Students must pass the foreign language test and thesis submission qualification exam before starting their fieldwork for the thesis.

Graduation Requirements for Doctoral Program

In doctoral program, students must be enrolled for minimum 2 years to maximum 6 years. No enrollment after 6 years will be allowed.

Students must earn 36 or more credits for doctoral program. Among the 36 credits, 18 or more credits should be earned from major courses in the Department of Anthropology other than Course 206.803: Reading and Research. However, exceptions can be made through the consultation with the Director of Graduate Program.

Students must score 3.0 (B0) or above both in their overall GPA and GPA for major courses.

Students without Master’s Degree in Anthropology must take Course 206.804: History of Anthropological Theory.

Students must pass the foreign language test and thesis submission qualification exam before starting their fieldwork for the thesis.
